Dr. Dominique Tessier

The medical Director and founder of the Travel Medicine Clinic of the Quartier Latin, associated with the Groupe Santé Voyage, Dre Dominique Tessier, is well known in the field of travel medicine. Her career path is impressive and counts at present:

  • Family doctor, Certified and Fellow of the College of family physicians of Canada
  • Clinical Instructor at the Family Medicine Department of the University of Montreal
  • Clinician, regional occupational clinic for post-exposure prophylaxis of the CHUM St-Luc and at the Family Medicine group of the Quartier Latin.

She is actually member of numerous associations and committees.

  • College of family physicians of Canada (president 2001-2002)
  • Quebec college of the family physicians (president 1993-1994)
  • International Society of travel Medicine (president of the international Congress held in Montreal in 1999)

  • Equity and Diversity Committee of the CFPC
  • Selection Committee of the Canadian Medical Hall of Fame
  • Ambassadors Club of the Palais des Congrès de Montréal (president 2001-2006)

In 2009, she co-founded Bleu, Réseau d’expert, to support the practice of Travel medicine by health care professionals. For over 20 years, she has organized an annual conference on Travel medicine, now called Colloque Bleu.

Her active implication as a volunteer covers more then 20 years. She has been a member of various other committees, namely the Committee to advise in tropical medicine and travel (CATMAT), and the Comité Consultatif Québécois sur la Santé des Voyageurs (CCQSV). She presided the HIV/AIDS Ministerial council, the Women’s committee of the provincial College of physicians and the Official language committee of the CFPC.

She wrote numerous textbook chapters and papers for peer reviewed publications, on travel medicine, women’s health, hiv/aids and birth control. She is actively involved in research.

She is committed to educating and expanding public awareness on prevention and care of problems related to immunizations and Travel Medicine. She loves to travel!
